Such an important message from @rynoshea in my most recent @bespokespeaks podcast episode, “Voice for Podcasters”. This is true for podcasters but it’s also true for any communication medium, and is so much more effective and rewarding than worrying about how your voice sounds.

Another resonance mistake people make when trying to do a General American accent is to press their voices down lower than is actually comfortable. It’s true that the Gen Am accent resonates farther back in the mouth, but pushing your voice pitch down doesn’t help you find that resonance— it just presses and limits your range and expressivity and is also ultimately unhealthy and unsustainable.
